The Law Of Love And The Ten Commandments
By Gary Zwicke

What is the 'Law of Love'?

"And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, what is written in the law (Torah)? How readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love YHVH thy Elohim (the Lord thy God) with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. And He said unto Him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live."  Luke 10:25-28

How Do I Love God with All My Heart?

1st Commandment

"Thou shalt have no other gods (elohim) before Me."  Ex 20:3

2nd Commandment

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Am YHVH thy Elohim, a jealous El (God), visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My Commandments."  Ex 20:4-6

3rd Commandment

"Thou shalt not take the name of YHVH thy Elohim (the Lord thy God) in vain; for YHVH will not hold him guiltless that taketh His Name in vain."  Ex 20:7

4th Commandment

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of YHVH thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days YHVH (the Lord) made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore YHVH blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."  Ex 20:8-11

How do I love my neighbor as myself?

5th Commandment

"Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which YHVH thy Elohim giveth thee."  Ex 20:12

6th Commandment

"Thou shalt not kill."  Ex 20:13

7th Commandment

"Thou shalt not commit adultery."  Ex 20:14

8th Commandment

"Thou shalt not steal."  Ex 20:15

9th Commandment

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor."  Ex 20:16

10th commandment

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's."  Ex 20:17

"And, behold, one came and said unto Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And He said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, Elohim (God): but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Yashua (Jesus) said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness. Honor thy father and thy mother: and, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."  Matt 19:16-19

Yashua (Jesus) told him boldly: "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."  It is very clear Yashua was talking about the Ten Commandments.

The Law of Love is the Ten Commandments

Yashua says: "If ye love Me, keep My Commandments."  John 14:15

Do you love Yashua enough to obey His Commandments?

"He that hath My Commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him."  John 14:21

"He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His Commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him."  I John 2:4

Some will say they keep the Spirit of the Law.

Paul said:

"For not the hearers of the Law (the Ten Commandments) are just before God, but the doers of the Law shall be justified."  Romans 2:13

James said:

"But whoso looketh into the perfect Law of Liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."  James 1:25

A true Christian keeps both the Letter of the Law and the Spirit of the Law.
